Doctor Richard Nelson Frye

Professor Emeritus, Harvard University                    
 

Dr. Frye is the American scholar of Iranian and Central Asian Studies and Aga Khan Professor Emeritus of Iranian Studies at Harvard University. He is considered dean of Iranian Studies and reserves an immense respect among Iranian people.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama to a family of immigrants from Sweden, "Freij" has four children, his second marriage being to an Iranian-Assyrian scholar, Dr. Eden Naby, fromUrmia, Iran who teaches at Columbia University. He speaks fluent Russian, German, Arabic, Persian, Pashto, French, Uzbek and Turkish.

 

 



Professor Shireen Hunter

Shireen T. Hunter is Visiting Professor in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and has been affiliated with the Georgetown Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding since September 2005. She is also Distinguished Scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., with which she has been associated since 1983, most recently as Director of the Islam Program (until 2005). She is Consultant to the RAND Corporation and was Academic Fellow at Carnegie Corporation (2000-2002). From 1993-97, Dr. Hunter was Visiting Senior Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, and also directed its Mediterranean Program.

 



Ms. Judith Kipper

Director, Middle East Programs, Institute of World Affairs                    
 

Ms. Kipper is an internationally recognized Middle East specialist. She is currently Director, Middle East Programs at the Institute of World Affairs in Washington DC. Previously, Ms. Kipper was Director of the Middle East Forum and the Energy Security Group at the Council on Foreign Relations. She is a long time consultant to ABC News. Ms. Kipper has testified before U.S. Senate and House committees on Middle East issues. She speaks frequently in the United States and abroad. She was an assistant to Walter Cronkite at CBS News and was an adviser on “Sadat’s Ancient Egypt”, a CBS documentary with Mr. Cronkite. She worked for several years in France on international issues, the transatlantic relationship, and the Soviet Union.

 



Ambassador John J Maresca

Rector, University of Peace                    

Amb. Maresca is a distinguished American diplomat, business leader, and educator. Amb. Maresca has held a number of posts in the US government including Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and US Ambassador. He has also founded, led, and contributed to a number of prominent NGOs and private sector companies. He currently serves as Rector of the United Nations mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) in Costa Rica.

 

 

 

 



Doctor Roy P. Mottahedeh

Dr. Roy Mottahedeh is the professor of pre-modern social and intellectual history of Islamic Middle East at Harvard University and an expert on Iranian culture.

Ambassador Sargent Shriver (late)

Amb. Shriver was a politician, activist and American Ambassador to France. He was married to Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of President John F. Kennedy. He is considered as one of the founders of Job Corps, Peace Corps and Head Start.  

Ambassador Shriver passed away on January 18, 2011 at the age of 95.                    
 

 

 

 



Mr. Michael J. Stinson

Mr. Stinson has been Chairman of TORP Terminal LP, a Norwegian LNG technology company. From 2004 until November of 2009, he served as a director of Eventure Global Technology, Inc.Mr. Stinson served with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Coalition Provisional Authority as Senior Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. He is a fellow of the Institute of Petroleum and a member of the American Petroleum Institute, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Amb. Suddarth is an American career diplomat who served as ambassador to Jordan. He was also the deputy Inspector General at Department of State and a professor at Naval War College. Currently he is the secretary of American Academy of Diplomacy.

   

 

 



Professor Majid Tehranian

Prof. Tehranian was the first director of the Toda Institute. He is Visiting Professor at Soka University of America. He has previously taught at Harvard, Oxford, Tufts, USC, and Tehran universities. A political economist by education, Prof. Tehranian received his Ph.D. and master's degrees from Harvard University and his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College.

 

 



Doctor David A Hamburg

Dr. Hamburg is the winner of the 1996 Presidential Medal of Freedom, highest civilian award of United States. He is the president Emeritus of Carnegie Corporation from 1982 to 1997. Hamburg was a member of the United States Defense Policy Board with Secretary of Defense William Perry. He is the founder and co-chaired with Cyrus Vance, secretary of state, the Carnegie Commission on Deadly Conflict. Currently, Dr. Hamburg is a DeWitt Wallace distinguished scholar at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is also a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School’s department of Social Medicine.

 



Professor Olga M Davidson

Prof. Davidson is the Chairperson and Executive Editor at Ilex Foundation and a visiting professor at Middle Eastern Program, Wellesley College. She has a PhD in Near Eastern Affairs from Princeton University. Prof. Davidson has taught at various institution including Harvard and Princeton University. Her teaching interests are Persian, Arabic, Classical Greek and Latin literatures, Folklore, poetics, Women’s Studies. She also teaches Pahlavi, Sogdian and Sanskrit history and literature.
