Sushil Purushotham

Communications and Development Coordinator

A graduate of the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, Sushil is Director of Development with AIC. Sushil became extremely interested in US-Iran affairs during his final semester at the American University in 2013, months before Hassan Rouhani was elected as Iran’s President and the P5+1 assembled to begin negotiating the JCPOA with Iran. From a course he had taken on "Rethinking US Strategy Towards Iran," taught by Hillary Mann Leverett (formerly Director for Iran, Afghanistan, and Persian Gulf Affairs on the George W. Bush National Security Council Staff), he learned how much more of a meaningful and productive relationship the US and Iran could have with each other if both states focused more on the goals they have in common than on those which are incompatible.
