Shiva Darian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and International Politics from Pennsylvania State University. She has a background in refugee casework with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the Church World Service (CWS). She designed Qualtrics surveys evaluating refugee concerns in order to more efficiently distribute budget allocations for future incoming families. Shiva also has conducted independent research projects in Turkey and the UK, examining varying definitions in citizenship and its manifestation in societies. She has experience synthesizing research and coding for an office in the UN, and was the Vice President for Penn State's Chapter of the Political Science Honors Association. Shiva has a deep interest in public policy and international political theory, particularly with a focus on MENA-US relations.
